Some of my favorite sessions happen with almost no planning at all.


This one was completely last minute.Five teenagers dressed for prom, a cul-de-sac, and a nice car that quickly became our main prop. It's not the kind of location photographers dream about. No dramatic architecture, no scenic park, no carefully selected backdrop. Just a neighborhood street and a group of friends excited for the night ahead.


But great photos rarely come from locations alone. They come from energy, personality, light, and connection. The kids showed up looking incredible, genuinely excited to be together, and completely willing to have fun with it. We used what we had, leaned into the car, and created a set of images that felt far more dynamic than the location would suggest.


It’s a good reminder that creativity isn’t about having the perfect setting. It’s about seeing the potential in the one you’re given. Sometimes all you need is time, trust, and a group of teenagers ready to make memories.
