Big Group, Soft Light, and Moving Fast

sunshine before the rain
This session at Matheson Hammock Park had everything I love about South Florida when it actually shows up — deep shade, spanish moss hanging just right, and native greenery that softens everything. A family of sixteen, little kids included, which means one thing: we move with purpose.
With groups this size (and this age range), there’s no dragging it out. We start strong, get the full group while energy is high, and then break into smaller moments before attention starts to fade. It’s less about perfect stillness and more about quick transitions, clear direction, and knowing exactly when you’ve got it.
Because the window is small — but it’s enough. A mix of everyone together, a few natural in-between moments, and just enough breathing room for the kids to stay happy. Fast, efficient, and still full of life — which is exactly how sessions like this should feel.
