Light, Nerves, and Trusting the Process

Fairytale Lighting
This engagement session with Aliza and Karl started with a bit of chaos. They weren’t from the area and had a hard time finding the magical Greynolds Park. And because we scheduled a golden our shoot, that meant we were watching the light slip away in real time. By the time they arrived, Aliza was understandably flustered. So part of my job shifted immediately from photographer to calming presence.
We started shooting right away, catching the very tail end of what ended up being perfect light. No overthinking, no easing in — just jumping straight into it and letting things unfold. As the session went on, the light dropped lower than ideal, but by then it didn’t matter. The energy had shifted, the nerves had settled, and everything felt natural.
Because sometimes the best sessions don’t start perfectly. But they become something beautiful anyway. A little pressure, a little trust, and just enough time to turn it all around.
