Light, Contrast, and Making it all Work

black vs white design
This shoot at Bellami Beauty Bar Miami was all about contrast—and control. The salon space is entirely black with gold detailing, which can easily fall flat or lose dimension if not handled carefully. Then it opens into a bright, white retail space with soft pink and gold accents, and a central area that fuses the two: black and white checkered floors, glossy finishes everywhere, light bouncing in every direction. Beautiful, but unforgiving.
The challenge was giving each space depth while preserving detail — especially with so many reflective surfaces that can blow out or muddy quickly. The goal wasn’t just one perspective either. These images needed to serve both the interior architect’s portfolio and the brand’s marketing. That means they had to feel elevated, intentional, and inviting all at once. Different needs, same set of images.
All of this, while the business was fully open and operating. Tight time window, clients moving through, no full reset moments. This is where efficiency and awareness matter most — working quickly, reading the space, adjusting on the fly. And still delivering a set that feels polished, rich, and cohesive across every zone.
